A Wembley Rematch
The match this year features last season’s Premier League winners Manchester City taking on the FA Cup winners Manchester United.
The last time these two teams faced each other was in the FA Cup final, where Manchester United, who were the underdogs going into that game, came out on top 2-1.
City Have A Shocking Record
The Red Devils find themselves as the 15/4 outsiders again, which is probably a little bit too big, as the two Manchester clubs should probably be a little bit closer together in the betting. In fact, Manchester City have lost their last three matches in the Community Shield, so it’s not impossible for Manchester United to add to their misery in this competition.
Low Scores Often The Way
However, I am looking at goals for this game, but a lack of them. In four of the last five matches in the Community Shield, they have two or fewer goals. The Community Shield is often known as a tight match, where both teams usually reserve the energy for the new football season. Rhino are currently 6/4 for less than 2.5 goals, which is probably a tad too big.
I can see either side just winning this game 1-0, or possibly a 1-1 draw that goes all the way to penalties. Whatever happens, the game will certainly be a nice appetiser with the Premier League season starting next weekend.
Community Shield selection: Under 2.5 Goals (6/4)
