Carlisle Racing Preview: Airspeed Can Fly Up The Carlisle Hill

Rhino Bet’s two-day sponsored meeting continues at Carlisle with six races on Friday afternoon. This feature race is the three-year-old sprint fillies handicap, and it looks like a race that could be worth following over the coming weeks.
Brigadier Gerard Preview

1.40 – Boost Your Winnings At Rhino.Bet Apprentice Handicap – Ney (Win)

I think Ney will take all the beating in this race. He comes here in great form, chasing the hat-trick after wins at Ripon and Catterick. This track will provide a slightly different test with a stiff uphill finish, but I think he can handle it. His main rival appears to be Tarbat Ness for John Berry, but he easily had his measure last time out at Ripon, and he can confirm the form again.

2.15 –  Daily Football Offers At Rhino.Bet EBF Restricted Novice Stakes – Airspeed (Win)

The one that takes the eye on breeding is Airspeed. He’s by Soldiers Call out of a mare who won a Listed race, so he’s bred to be useful. Karl Burke has been starting to hit top gear with his two-year-old’s and is currently 28% with his juveniles in 2024. If the market vibes are strong, he’s definitely one to note.

2.50 – Download The Rhino Bet App Fillies’ Handicap – Angel Shared (Win)

I don’t want to be boring, but I think Angel Shared is a horse we’ve not gotten to the bottom of yet. She won comfortably at Bath last time out, and she just looks to be improving despite being raised 7lb. This three-year-old filly is by Harry Angel, and her pedigree shows that she is bred for speed. Furthermore, Steph Hollinshead has been among the winners of late, and I wouldn’t be surprised if Angel Shared continued her good form.

3.25 – Charge Up Your Summer With Rhino.Bet Handicap – Dollarindex (Each Way)

Dollarindex took a step in the right direction when finishing third at Ripon last time out. That was her first run on the turf and it might be that she has more to offer on grass. With Bryan Smart reaching for first-time cheekpieces, I think she might be able to improve on her latest showing and go close here off the same mark.

4.00 –  Daily Charged Up Offers At Rhino.Bet Handicap – Test of Love (Win)

I liked the way the Test Of Love won at Salisbury when last seen. He has been raised 6lb by the handicapper for that win, but I think that’s a fair rise. On paper, this looks to be a weaker race than what he last ran in, and he looks like the kind of horse that Sir Mark Prescott does well with. For me, he’s the one they’ve got to beat.

Darbucks has been running consistently well on his recent starts. He was last seen finishing second over this course and distance, and the form has been franked by the fourth-placed horse, Homer Stokes, winning since. He might not be the best handicapped horse in the race, but you know what you’re getting with him. The five-year-old gelding might just be the type to get his head in front here.
