The Reds Can Get Their Revenge
Crystal Palace v Liverpool should be an interesting game for a few reasons. The last time these two teams met, the home side got the better of the Merseyside team 1-0 at Anfield; however, the betting doesn’t reflect that here. Liverpool are the odds-on favourites to win at 1/2, Crystal Palace the outsiders at 19/4, and the draw at 7/2.
The Eagles Aren’t Flying High
Despite finishing the season strongly, Crystal Palace have not picked up from where they left off. The Eagles have collected a few points from some draws against the likes of Chelsea and Manchester United, but they are yet to win a Premier League game this season. The pressure is really starting to mount for their manager, Oliver Glasner, so a win would definitely relieve some of it. However, I can’t see that happening any time soon.
Title Contenders?
Liverpool, on the other hand, are in excellent form and are currently leading the way in the Premier League. Apart from a surprise 1-0 defeat to Nottingham Forest, the Reds are unbeaten under Arne Slot. A lot of people are seeing the title race as a two-horse race between Manchester City and Arsenal, but don’t be surprised if Liverpool have something to say about it.
For this game, I do think Liverpool will have too much quality for Crystal Palace, and I can see them scoring a few goals. I wouldn’t be surprised if the scoreline ended up having over 2.5 goals. Therefore, I’m going to side with Liverpool to win and over 2.5 goals at 5/4.
Careless Konate
Another angle I am looking at is the card market and Ibrahimha Konate. The Frenchman needs to watch his step as he’s been booked in his last two games. Furthermore, he’s already picked up four yellow cards in total this season. With the likes of Eberchi Eze and Jean Phillipe Mateta likely to cause Liverpool’s defence problems, I can see him getting stuck into a foul and receiving a booking. At the time of writing, he’s 9/4 to get a yellow card on Saturday.
