Aston Villa v Everton Betting Preview: The Sticky Patch Can Continue For The Toffees

Saturday night sees the oldest game in English football take place between Aston Villa and Everton at Villa Park.
EFL Saturday Treble

The Villians Hot Favourites

Aston Villa come into this game as strong favourites after winning two of their three games this season. Everton, on the other hand, have failed to land a blow, losing all three of their matches in the Premier League.

Injury Issues

When it comes to the team selection, Aston Villa could be in a spot of trouble. Their star striker Ollie Watkins is a doubt as he’s been battling an ongoing injury, while Ezri Konsa came off for England whilst on international duty. The Villains are also without Matty Cash and Leon Bailey, so they might not be able to field their strongest eleven.

Everton also have a few players on the sidelines. Jarrad Braithwaite has missed the start of the season with a groin injury, and club captain Seamus Coleman is ruled out after he limped off against England last weekend.

Rogers Ready To Convert

Though both teams have ongoing injury issues, I still think Aston Villa’s quality will shine through. One player who has made an excellent start to the season is Morgan Rogers. The 22-year-old has looked sharp and has caused defenders nightmares with his pace and trickery. After several loan spells, Rogers broke into Villa’s team last season, scoring three goals in 11 Premier League games. Though he has yet to score this season, I think he’ll get on the scoresheet soon. It wouldn’t surprise me if he did it in this game, which is 19/10 anytime with Rhino.

Another angle I am seeing for this game is Everton not to get on the scoresheet. Everton have struggled in front of goal this season, with the Toffees only bagging two goals. Though Villa’s defence hasn’t been perfect, they did beat 4-0 in this fixture last season, and I am seeing something similar again. Therefore I’m putting a bet builder together, with Aston Villa to win, Roger to score anytime, and Aston Villa to keep a clean sheet, which pays out at 13/2.
