RB Leipzig vs Liverpool: Champions League Preview & Betting Tips

RB Leipzig will face off against Liverpool in a highly anticipated UEFA Champions League group-stage clash on Wednesday night. The matchup brings together two sides leading the way in their domestic leagues. Liverpool have started the season superbly under new manager Arne Slot and sit top of the Premier League table with 7 wins from 8. Leipzig, under Marco Rose, are currently joint top of the Bundesliga with 5 wins from their opening 7 games this season.

RB Leipzig

Having lost their opening two fixtures, Leipzig must take their Bundesliga form into the Champions League. The key to that form has been the defence, conceding only 2 goals in 7 matches. Leipzig’s attack is also full of talent with Euro 2024 star Xavi Simons back for another season on loan and Benjamin Sesko available. Both could cause Liverpool problems especially with goalkeeper Allison not fit to play. Leipzig has scored in both of their previous Champions League matches and I expect them to trouble Liverpool.  Liverpool had a tough game on Sunday against Chelsea, and with the added travel, I fancy Leipzig to pick up at least a point in the match. Backing Leipzig Double Chance at the boosted price of 11/10 looks the play.

Liverpool

Leipzig will be coming up against a Liverpool team stacked with attacking talent. Mo Salah and Luiz Diaz have both already contributed 5 goals each per season in the league. With Leipzig’s old boy Dominik Szoboszlai pulling the strings, Liverpool will fancy their chances to continue their perfect start in the Champions League. Szoboszlai will be up for the fixture and I expect him to be heavily involved. With the attacking talent at Arne Slot’s disposal, there will be a goal or two and I expect Mo Salah to score in the match.

Tips:

RB Leipzig Double Chance (11/10) – Mo Salah Anytime Goalscorer (6/4)
