Date: 3rd December 2024
Kick-off: 7:30pm
Venue: Portman Road
Ipswich Tactics:
McKenna has employed a classic 4-4-2 and has got Ipswich playing through their widemen and encourages the full backs mainly Leif Davis to overlap and get crosses into the box as much as possible.
When defending they try to minimise the gaps centrally and out wide between players, being compact is their best hope for keeping goals out.
Crystal Palace Tactics:
Palace into a 5 at the back when defending, wingback coming narrow and making the pitch much smaller. This is quite the opposite when in possession, they look to stretch the pitch out as much as possible leaving gaps for Eze to get on the ball in dangerous areas.Â
The idea is that opposition will double up on Eze and leave space for others to get in behind the defence.
- Ipswich: Liam Delap A great start to the season for the Irish international, top clubs are now taking an interest with January luring ever closer. An old school number 9, who only wants to score goals. 6 goals in 13 Premier League games is good going for a newly promoted side.
- Crystal Palace: Eberechi Eze A silky playmaker who runs the show for Palace, they’ve been without him for a number of weeks and failed to create enough. Eze will be roaming around just in front of the Ipswich defence.
Head-to-Head Record
The two clubs have faced each other 83 times previously, Ipswich victorious 32 times, 24 draws and Palace taking the points on 27 occasions.
Conclusion
It’s going to be a tightly fought encounter under the lights at Portman Road, with Eze back in the starting 11 i’d expect Palace to just come out on top. Omari Hutchinson will be hoping to be the creative spark for Ipswich at the other end.
Both teams to score and Palace to win is 7/2 on Rhino.
