Many will feel that Pochettino is fortunate to still be in the Chelsea hotseat given the speed with which they have axed many previous managers. It has been an extremely poor season for Chelsea, and although they have performed well in cup competitions it is the league form by which Poch will ultimately be judged. In the Premier League Chelsea simply haven’t been good enough, particularly given the huge investment that has been made in the squad.
Newcastle have blown hot and cold at times this season, and a crippling injury list has led them to struggle to retain a place in the fight for Champions league positions this season. They ran out 3-0 winners last time out against an in-form Wolves side, and Eddie Howe will feel that a strong end to the season should see them in the mix for European football, albeit on a Thursday night, for next season.
