Leicester City’s Struggles

Leicester City enters this fixture in a precarious position, sitting 18th in the Premier League and facing the threat of relegation. Their recent form has been concerning, with eight defeats in their last nine matches, including a heavy 4-0 loss to Everton in their most recent league outing. Defensively, they’ve struggled, conceding nine goals in their last four home games without scoring any, highlighting their difficulties at the King Power Stadium.

In terms of team news, Leicester will be without Abdul Fatawu due to a long-term cruciate ligament injury. Defenders Jannik Vestergaard and Victor Kristiansen are both doubts after missing the FA Cup defeat against Manchester United at Old Trafford. However, Wilfred Ndidi has returned from a hamstring injury and is expected to start. Veteran striker Jamie Vardy, who has a strong record against Arsenal, is expected to lead the line.

Arsenal’s Injury Crisis

Arsenal, currently second in the Premier League, are contending with a significant injury crisis that has depleted their attacking options. Kai Havertz is out for the season with a torn hamstring, and Gabriel Martinelli is sidelined for over a month due to a hamstring injury. Additionally, Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Jesus are unavailable, leaving manager Mikel Arteta with limited attacking resources. In response, Leandro Trossard and Raheem Sterling are expected to feature prominently in the attack, with teenager Ethan Nwaneri also likely to play a role. There was a lot of talk in January around Arsenal brining in a new striker, this didn’t happen and the injuries now leave fans wondering how big a mistake this was.

On a positive note, defender Ben White is nearing a return from a knee issue and could feature in the match. However, Takehiro Tomiyasu remains unavailable due to an ongoing knee problem.

Head-to-Head Record

Arsenal has dominated recent encounters with Leicester, winning their last six matches against the Foxes in all competitions. This includes a dramatic 4-2 victory in the reverse fixture earlier this season, where Arsenal overcame a 2-0 deficit to secure the win.

Match Prediction

Given Leicester’s defensive vulnerabilities and Arsenal’s attacking depth, the Gunners are favoured to win this match. Leicester will be hoping to get something from the match as they currently sit 2 points behind Wolves, who face a tough trip to Liverpool on Sunday.
