Henry Brooke: Doing All We Can For Alice

Some of you might not be aware that I’m currently on the sidelines at the moment. Unfortunately, I injured my wrist after a fall at Worcester a couple of weeks ago, and it meant that I needed an operation to sort it out.

The Road To Recovery Starts At Jack Berry House

Thankfully all went well, and I’m currently on track to get back to the racecourse soon. At the moment I am spending a lot of time at Jack Berry House keeping my fitness up, but doing exercises that don’t involve using my arm.

Eyes On Carlisle

My plan is to hopefully get back to riding at Carlisle in late October, where I could ride White Rhino and Making Headway. Both horses could go on to do nice things for Oliver Greenall and Josh Guerriero this season, so it would be great to get back riding then.

Whilst I’m on the sidelines, I’ve been able to spend some time with my family playing with my kids, Arthur and Eva, which can just about keep me sane. However, one thing that has been taking up a lot of my time has been fundraising for Alice Procter.

Running For Alice Procter

Some of you might not know she had a horrible accident when riding at Cartmel back in July, which has left her with life-changing injuries. To do my bit for her, me and several other jockeys are going to be running in the Keswick Half Marathon on Sunday. I’ve not run for a couple of weeks, so I’m going straight in the deep end. Hopefully I’ll be alright.

It’s been great to see the support from lots of people across racing. The original target was £20,000, but we’re currently over that now, and we could be at £25,000 by the weekend, which would be a fantastic effort.

Class Touch By Josie

Rhino’s Bet Flat racing ambassador, Josephine Gordon, has also contributed to the cause. She donated her bonus after she won on Whitcombe Rockstar for Keiran Burke at Kempton. Josephine and Alice know each other through their connection with Keiran, so it’s a class gesture by her to donate her bonus to Alice’s fund. I’ve not met Alice before, but I’m very much looking forward to meeting her in the future.

A Talk At Perth

It’s not just the Keswick Half Marathon I’m running to fundraise for Alice. Next week I’m going to be at Perth Racecourse, hosting a talk to some racegoers about what it’s like to be a jockey. All the profits from the ticket sales will go towards Alice’s funds, so that’s another nice touch. It’s amazing how racing is able to come together in times of need.

If you wish to donate to Alice’s fund, please feel free to click here. Your support would be very much appreciated.

That’s all from me for the time being. I hope you are all keeping well, and you’ll hear from me again soon.
