Hiya everybody!! Let’s start with some good news this week. The doctor has cleared me to return to racing so I am aiming to do that at Perth next Tuesday.

The good horses are returning from their summer breaks and we’ll see more of them in coming weeks. Gale Mahler makes her reappearance at Cheltenham so I’m determined to be back and fit for the October meeting there. Josh and Olly have Making Headway and White Rhino lined up for their first go over fences, that’s super exciting for the yard.

I’ll be at Carlisle this Thursday representing Rhino Bet at Carlisle for the jumps season opener there. It’s a meeting that’s renowned for producing good horses. White Rhino won there last year to kick off his excellent campaign. Below you can find my thoughts on the racecard and horses that could go well. If you’re there at Carlisle on Thursday be sure to say hello.

Thursday  – Carlisle 13:22

HERITIER

I like the Lizzy Quinlan horse in the first. He’s a horse that goes really well on soft ground, which Carlisle often is (even at this time of year). He has a better rating over hurdles than over fences and he’s been running well for the Quinlans since he’s been there. He likes a stiff two miles so this track should really suit him.

Thursday  – Carlisle 13:57

DONNACHA

In the second I like Donnacha for Nigel Hawke. Won well at Exeter over 2miles and 2 furlongs. Carlisle and Exeter are quite similar tracks. Again, a horse that likes soft ground and if he can carry his previous form into jumping fences off this kind of mark he should run a nice race

Thursday  – Carlisle 15:07

GENTLEMAN BILL

Gutted to miss this ride for Oliver and Josh. This lad won really well in a bumper at Newcastle in April. The horse that finished second in that race has gone on to win this week on reappearance so that form has taken a boost and looks decent. We think he’s going to be a really nice horse going forward.

Thursday  – Carlisle 15:42

SNIPE

In the fifth race I like Snipe for Dan Skelton. The Skelton’s are absolutely flying – banging lots of winners in as Harry and Dan seem to really be going after the Champion Jockey and Trainers titles by looks of it. This horse won well at Aintree ahead of one of Josh and Olly’s. That horse was Duke of Deception, which went on to progress consistently last season, and so you’d say that piece of form is good and I’d say the horse is certainly good enough to win this.

Thursday  – Carlisle 17:22

WALK OF FAITH

The last race is a Bumper and Jonjo O’Neil has Walk of Faith in there. Jonjo is known for bringing a lot of nice bumper horses up her, especially when we’re on the old track, which we are for first couple of meetings over hurdles. Based on that the horse is tipping itself for me.

Cheers everyone! Looking forward to Thursday and to getting back racing very soon.
