CAER ROES DEN
It’s nice to pick up this ride for Ben Brookhouse in the first. I’ve not ridden for the yard before. Hopefully we can make a good showing. This lad ran really well last time out but looked a little keen early in the race. The race got away from his a bit in the closing stages and then he finished with a flurry and was staying on at the end. Hopefully we can keep him dialled in and in a good position to finish his race as well.

GABORIOT
My second ride in Liverpool tomorrow and once again he’s carrying 10st 2lbs which is great for him and terrible for me. Not much eating this week. The trip here should suit him much better than the Sefton a few weeks ago. He was a little out on his feet last time, even though he stayed on well. This shorter trip will suit him. He took to the national fences brilliantly so hopefully they go a good clip and he can show his class and go very close.

MELON
This youngster has been running on the flat and won his last race at Haydock on soft ground. I’ve schooled him at home and he’s a really versatile horse who jumps well and obviously has a turn of foot. It’s a good little race for him first time out but we’re hopeful for a good performance and he’ll definitely progress throughout this season.

CAPTAIN POTTER
My last ride is for Brian Ellison. He was unlucky to slip on the bend at Catterick on the last day. He looked like he was running well at the time. I’ve been into Brian’s and schooled him this week and he schooled well. This does look a very competitive race mind you and he might just find one or two too good, but hopefully he’ll give account of himself.
