Josephine Gordon Becomes The First Flat Jockey To Join Rhino Bet

Rhino Bet is thrilled to announce the appointment of jockey Josephine Gordon as their ambassador for the upcoming 2024 Flat season.

With an illustrious career spanning over a decade, Gordon has firmly established herself as one of the UK’s leading female jockeys, garnering accolades and victories that have solidified her reputation in the sport.

Gordon’s journey to success has been marked by some remarkable achievements, which included clinching the prestigious Champion Apprentice title in 2016, a feat accomplished by only three female jockeys to date. In 2017, she made history again by becoming the second female rider to reach the milestone of 100 winners in a single calendar year, recording a final total of 107 winners.

Her triumphs extend beyond individual accolades, as highlighted by her pivotal role in securing victory for the Girls Team at Ascot’s Shergar Cup in 2018 alongside Hayley Turner and Hollie Doyle.

Demonstrating her hard work and dedication, Gordon has had the privilege of riding for renowned trainers such as William Haggas, Sir Michael Stoute, Saeed Bin Suroor, Hugo Palmer, and Hughie Morrison, among others.

Working with these trainers has given her the opportunity to win some high-profile races. In 2017, she emerged victorious in the Group 3 Chipchase Stakes at Newcastle with Koropick, triumphed in the Listed Ganton Stakes at York aboard Arabian Hope, and won the Victoria Cup at Ascot riding Fastnet Tempest all in the same year.

However, her success doesn’t end there, as she rode Mrs Gallagher to dual Listed victories in 2018, which included a win in the Polania Stakes at Naas. Since then, she has added to her tally in pattern races, taking the Listed Bosra Sham Stakes at Newmarket with Mild Illusion in 2019 and winning the Abingdon Stakes with Stay Alert at Newbury in 2022.

Along with her impressive track record, Gordon remains committed to her career and continues to excel as a respected jockey on the flat, riding for well-known trainers Phil McEntee, Marco Botti, and Tony Carroll.

On joining Rhino Bet Josephine said: “It’s a lovely way to start off the new Flat season on the turf with my new sponsor Rhino Bet. Hopefully we can have a successful season and ride plenty of winners.’

Ceiron Jones, Director of Operations at Rhino Bet, said: “We’re delighted to welcome Josephine Gordon to the Rhino Bet Team ahead of the new flat season. Josephine has had an incredible career to date and we’re excited to bring her insight and experience to Rhino Bet customers via regular blog posts and social content. Adding a flat jockey to our growing list of ambassadors was a natural next step for the brand and we’re looking forward to seeing the Rhino appear at some of the UK’s most prestigious race courses this summer”.

As a member of the Rhino Bet team, Gordon will be sharing her knowledge and expertise for her weekend rides as well as providing updates on her life and journey as a jockey in 2024.
