This is my first blog with Rhino Bet, and what a great way to start as I’ve got two rides for their sponsored meeting at Nottingham on Saturday night, where hopefully we can have a good evening.
What is it like to ride Nottingham?
I always like going to Nottingham and it’s a track I enjoy riding. I think it’s a fair course and when it’s riding soft they usually stick to the far rail, so having a low draw is normally a massive advantage.
My Saturday rides at Nottingham
6.25 – Glencalvie (Phil McEntee)
She was a nice winner on the straight track at Yarmouth last weekend, which came on good to firm ground. Even though the ground is likely to be softer here, I think she’ll appreciate it. My only concern is the fact she’s been given a wide draw in Stall 12, which isn’t ideal, but apart from that, I think she can run a nice race.
7.30 – Giselles Defence (Ian Williams)
It’s his first run for Ian Williams after previously being trained by Gavin Cromwell. He’s not been on the racecourse since January, but that doesn’t worry me, as Ian’s horses tend to be very fit. So far in his career, he’s been campaigned on the Flat and Jumps and looking at his previous form in Ireland, the soft ground shouldn’t be an issue. We’ve got a lovely draw in Stall 3, so I am hopeful he can have a nice introduction for Ian.
Whatever you’re doing this weekend I hope you have a good one!
