3.15 Kempton – Whitcombe Rockstar (Keiran Burke)
He’s an absolute legend around Kempton, as he’s won three times at the track over the last 12 months. This will be a hot race with many fancying their chances, but I wouldn’t swap my lad. He is usually a very consistent horse, who leaves everything out there on the track. For this race we are drawn out wide in Stall 14, which isn’t ideal over 1m, but he’s got as good a chance as any. It would be great if he could be in the frame at the finish. I’m very much looking forward to riding him, and
4.55 Kempton – Night Breeze (Ian Wiliams)
I’ve been fortunate to ride him at home this week to get a feel for him. It’s always good riding out horses at home as you get to know their individual quirks, which can make all the difference when you ride them at the racecourse. However, when it comes to lad, he’s been in good form this summer. Two starts ago he won in the Racing League at Windsor, and he then put up another solid effort at Newcastle last time out, so the all-weather shouldn’t be a problem. There are a few progressive horses in this race, but I can’t see why he wouldn’t be in the mix.
Inisherin The One For Me
Away from the action at Kempton on Saturday, I’ll be keeping an eye on the Group 1 Haydock Sprint Cup. The field looks really competitive with sixteen runners going to post, but my pick would be Inisherin for Kevin Ryan. This three-year-old colt has been a real standout for his connections this season, and he has already bagged a Group 1 win in the Commonwealth Cup at Royal Ascot. Last time out I felt he didn’t quite take to the July course at Newmarket, but returning to a flatter track like Haydock should see him in a better light as he won there earlier in the season. Furthermore, he gets the weight-for-age allowance, which can play a huge part in these races. It will be interesting to see how he gets on.
I hope you all have a good weekend watching the racing, and I’ll check in again with you next week.
