Lucky Loader’s Nottingham Racing Preview: All Hail The Dragon

It’s a competitive looking card for Rhino Bet’s first Flat meeting of the year.  The race I am most looking forward to seeing is the opening race as we’ve got a potential Group 1 horse on show, who could go on to some really big things at the major racing festivals.

4.50 The Flat Is Back With Rhino.Bet Novice Stakes – God’s Window (Win)

This should be a penalty kick for God’s Window as there are only three runners and he brings the best form to the table after he finished third in the Group 1 Futurity Trophy Stakes at Doncaster last season. John and Thady Gosden will clearly have some big targets for him this season, and if he wins this race easily, then he’ll be a horse to follow.

5.25 Boost Your Winnings At Rhino.Bet Apprentice Handicap – High Opinion (Win)

Cases can be made for quite a few, but High Opinion caught the eye at Newcastle when making late headway to finish third earlier this month. That was his first run for a while, and he could strip fitter here. Furthermore, the soft going should be a problem, as he’s won in these conditions before over this course and distance. If he can build on that run, he can go close off his current mark.

5.55  Blue Monkey Brewery Restricted Maiden Stakes – The Dragon King (Win)

This is a trappy race as a few of these are making their racecourse debuts, but I am going to side with the experienced The Dragon King, who shaped with a lot of promise at Southwell last time out to finish second on his first start under rules. The form of that race has worked out well, and he sets the standard here. His sire, Invincible Army, also didn’t mind a bit of cut in the ground, so there is hope he’ll handle the soft going.

6.25 Daily Football Offers At Rhino.Bet Handicap – Seattle Time (Each Way)

Trainer Jack Jones has made a good name for himself as a trainer over the past year, and he looks to have a good chance of a winner here with Seattle Time. This four-year-old gelding has run some solid races on the all-weather this winter, with his best effort coming at Lingfield over 7f last time out. The son of Time Test now steps up in trip, but this looks to be a positive move as he has a lot of stamina in his pedigree, and I think it could bring out some improvement in him.

6.55 – Follow Us On X @betrhino Handicap – Clansman (Win)

Clansman has been in excellent form in the past couple of weeks. He absolutely hosed up at Ripon earlier on Thursday for his trainer, Liam Bailey, and he’s well in again here despite carrying a 5lb penalty again. The son of Nathaniel stays all day and will like the soft going at Nottingham. I think he’ll be hard to beat.

7.30 – Follow Rhino.Bet On Instagram Handicap – Powerful Response (Win)

I thought there was plenty of encouragement to be had from Powerful Response’s seasonal return at Doncaster last month. He stayed on well that day to finish fourth at Doncaster and shaped like he needed the run. Last season, he progressed well in some decent handicaps, which included a win on soft ground at Hamilton. I’ll expect him to step forward here, and with Brandon Wilkie claiming a handy 5lb it means he’s not badly treated at the weights and is essentially only 1lb higher than his last winning mark.

8.00 – Discover Whats Trending At Rhino.Bet Casino Handicap – Wichahpi (Win)

Wichahpi ran a cracker to finish second at Catterick earlier this month, and she had excuses after losing a shoe. This is a much easier assignment than her last run, and she should improve for that run here. The daughter of Sioux Nation handled the heavy ground fine last time out, and I’ll think she’ll go very well in the lucky last.
