Huntingdon Racing Preview: Off To A Flyer Can Give Us An Early Winner

This Bank Holiday Monday sees Rhino Bet sponsoring six races at Huntingdon. Even though there are small fields, the racing is competitive, and I like our chances of finding a few winners.

2.05 – Charge Up Your Summer With Rhino.Bet Conditional Jockeys’ Handicap HurdleOff To A Flyer (Win)

It’s fair to say that Off To A Flyer has been disappointing in recent months after being campaigned over fences, so it’s interesting to see Joe Tizzard sending him back over hurdles. The son of Shirocco is very well-handicapped, and he is now 6lb lower than when he won at the Scottish Grand National meeting back in April 2023. On paper, this is the easiest race he’s had over hurdles for quite some time. With Freddie Gingell back in the saddle, I’m expecting a better performance.

2.40 – Daily Offers At Rhino.Bet Maiden Hurdle – Realistic Optimism (Win)

Realistic Optimism is perhaps the most interesting horse in the race. His bumper form in Ireland reads well, particularly behind Thecompanysergeant, who has run well in graded company. We’ve not seen the seven-year-old gelding for nearly two years, but his trainer, Jamie Snowden, has done well with similar types before. If he can transfer his bumper form, I can see him going well.

3.15 – Euro2024 Daily Giveaways On Rhino.Bet Handicap Chase – Great Samourai (Win)

Great Samourai has been knocking on the door lately after a string of second-placed efforts. His recent run at Southwell was a good performance, and the ground should be in his favour here. I think this is the best opportunity he’s had for a while, and his consistency can be rewarded here.

3.50 –  Follow Us On X @betrhino Handicap Hurdle – Small Town Bob (Win)

Small Town Bob didn’t appear to like going over fences last time out at Plumpton when he finished earlier this month, and coming back hurdling looks like the right move. The nine-year-old gelding is well-treated on his old form, and he’s still well-handicapped. With Freddie Gordon claiming a handy 5lb, this might be his time to bounce back.

Hamartia ran a good race when she bumped into a well-backed favourite of Christian Williams at Ffos Las last time out. This looks a weaker race than what she faced in her recent assignments, and there are a few mares that have question marks against there names. It’s interesting to see Neil Mulholland reach for the first-time cheekpieces as they should help her concentrate. With the yard in good form I expect her to take all the beating.

4.55 – Boost Your Winnings At Rhino.Bet Handicap Hurdle – Salvatore (Win)

The last time we saw Salvatore had the measure of Sanitiser wat Kempton last time out. I think he’ll confirm the form again here. Harry Derham has been in top form in the last two weeks operating at a 60% strike rate. He might have to carry topweight, but I think he is still ahead of the handicapper.

Bet Of The Day: 4.55 – Salvatore
