Important To Keep In Shape
However, it is important to remain active and keep my body in shape for when I return. I’ve been at the gym working with the physios to come up with a routine, which means I can still exercise without having to use my broken wrist. You can see some of my gym work on my Instagram channel.
Derby Horse?
Though I’ve been at the gym, I’ve been watching my fair share of racing too. I was really impressed with a two-year-old, The Lion In Winter, at the Curragh on Saturday for Aidan O’Brien. He ran on well very well inside the final furlong, and he hit the line hard. It looks like the bookmakers were very taken with him, and they’ve already put him in as the favourite for next year’s Epsom Derby. I think he’ll be a horse who will get better the further up in trip he goes.
Auguste Rodin For Me
Looking ahead, we’ve got a really good race this weekend with the King George VI and Queen Elizabeth Stakes at Ascot on Saturday. I think that Auguste Rodin will take the beating, stepping back up in trip to 1m4f. He wasn’t able to show his true ability last in the race as the ground went against him, but if rain can stay away, then he’ll have a great chance. It’s a race I’ll definitely be tuning in for.
Champions A Real Eye Opener
The other big news in the racing world this week has been the launch of the new ITV documentary series Champions. Though it’s about the jumps, it’s an opportunity for racing to reach people who might not follow the sport. The show really emphasises how tough you have to be to be a jump jockey and that those big days really count.
It was also great to see racehorses having a second career being shown after they retire from racing. The documentary shows how much racing really cares for our horses. I’m looking forward to seeing the next few episodes over the coming weeks.
I hope you’re all keeping well and you’ll hear from me again soon.
