Josephine Gordon: It’s Time To Get Back In The Saddle

The end is finally in sight, and I am hoping that I will be back on the track at the weekend.

Getting Match Fit

My recovery has gone really well, and I’m going to be riding out a few lots in the morning this week. That will just help me get back in shape for when I get back to race riding.

One Of Those Things

Unfortunately, sometimes you just have to accept as a jockey that you are going to pick up a few injuries or niggles from time to time. It’s just been frustrating that it’s been in the summer, where we’ve been at the peak of the turf season. Thankfully we’ve still a couple of months left to go on the grass, and hopefully I can ride some more winners. I’m just really looking forward to getting back in the saddle.

A Win For The Girls

Elsewhere, I really enjoyed watching the Shergar Cup at Ascot on Saturday. It was great to see a competitive event right going down to the wire. However, I did want the Girls Team to win, which they did with a first and second in the last race. I don’t know what it is about the Shergar Cup, but Hayley Turner just always seems to rise to the occasion and be at her best in it. She just loves it.

Top Talent On Show

It was also fantastic to see a great range of jockeys from all around the world. Ascot does a great job at bringing some of the very best riders. Rachel King, Rachel Venniker, and Bauyrzhan Murzabayev are jockeys we don’t see very often in the UK, and they were all able to make it into the winners’ enclosure on Saturday. I think the Shergar Cup is an event that is just going to keep going from strength to strength.

That’s all for the time being, but I’ll give you an update soon, and hopefully you’ll see me in the Rhino breeches this weekend.
