Josephine Gordon: Stacey Racey Can Back It Up At Kempton

It’s a busier time for me this week, as I’ve got a few rides across the country, so that means plenty of travelling and time spent in the car.

I’ll also be riding for different trainers this week, the likes of Phil McEntee, Julia Feilden and Stacey Racey for Keiran Burke, so it would be great to ride them a winner.

My Rides This Week

Tuesday

Southwell

8.00 – Irish Dancer (Declan Carroll)

His last run at Thirsk was a little bit disappointing last time out, but coming back to the all-weather will be interesting. He’s only run once on an artificial surface, and he wasn’t that far when he finished fifth at this track last month. If he can take a step forward from that run, then he wouldn’t be without a chance of being in or around the frame.

Wednesday

Kempton

7.45 – Dizziwizzbang (Phil McEntee)

She hasn’t shown much too much at the track so far, but she will be making her handicap debut here, which could see her in a better light. This will also be her first run since January, so I wouldn’t be surprised if she needed the run. She could be a horse to watch next time out, as we head into the winter months.

Thursday

Southwell

4.55 – Global Effort (Phil McEntee)

He isn’t the most straightforward horse, but he didn’t shape too badly on his last start when he finished sixth at Chelmsford. That run was over 6f, and we’re going to be stepping up to 7f here. He’s also 6lb below his last winning mark, so he’s handicapped to run well. If he’s in the mood, then he wouldn’t be without a chance.

6.00 – Em Jay Kay (Phil McEntee)

He ran better than I thought he would when he finished fifth at Chelmsford last time out. I thought he would need the run that day, so he could well leave that effort behind. He’s won over the course and distance before, so coming back to this track will be a plus. If he can take a step forward from his recent run, then he can feature for the places.

Friday

Kempton

5.45 – Silver Shamrock (Julia Feilden)

I rode this filly at Chelmsford last time out, and she showed a good turn of foot inside the final furlong and finished off her race well. That run was over 1m2f, and she’s going to be dropping back in distance to a mile this time around. I’ll probably sit a little bit closer to the pace here, as I sat back a bit too far last time out. I think when it all clicks for her, then she can be more capable of winning a race, and maybe it could be this week.

7.45 – Stacey Racey (Keiran Burke)

She showed a great attitude to win at Kempton last month. That race was over 7f, and we’re going to be staying at the same trip here. She’s raced over 6f and 7f for the majority of her career, but I am still not sure what her best trip is. I recently went to Keiran’s and sat on her at home; she felt good. If she does take her chance on Friday, then I can see no reason why she won’t go close again.

I hope you all have a good week, and you’ll be hearing from me again soon.
