Manchester United v Liverpool Betting Preview: Slot’s Biggest Test Yet

The Premier League game of the weekend takes place on Sunday teatime between Manchester United and Liverpool at Old Trafford, and some say it’s the biggest rivalry in English football.

Tough Test For Slot

The favourites coming are Liverpool, who are a shade of odds on at 17/20. Despite them winning both of their games, this will be the hardest assignment of the season yet.

Touchline Tension?

So far, I think Arne Slot has done well at Liverpool, but as the season goes on, I have my doubts about him. I just worry about them playing against the better sides and the likes of his squad trusting him. We already saw last weekend that Trent Alexander-Arnold was frustrated after being subbed. It will be interesting to see if it was a one-off or if it will happen throughout the season.

Crowd Will Be On United’s Side

When looking at Manchester United, they haven’t pulled up any trees so far in their opening two games, but they’ve not been awful. They beat Fulham 1-0 in the opening game and then lost 2-1 against Brighton, where they conceded a last-minute winner.

I think returning to Old Trafford will help the Red Devils, and the crowd will be right behind them against their biggest rivals. The last time these two teams met each other it was a 2-2 draw, but the time before Manchester United came out on top 4-3 in a classic FA Cup tie, where Amad Diallo scored the winner in the dying minutes of extra time.

Dynamic Diallo

The Ivorian has hit the ground running this season, and he was on the scoresheet against Brighton last weekend. He’s impressed me, and he looks like a proper goal threat for Manchester United. I think there will be goals in this game, and at 7/2 to score anytime I can him bagging another one against Liverpool.

The Egyptian Curse

Having said that, another player who looks sure to pop up with a goal is Mo Salah. The Egyptian has a fantastic record against Manchester United, scoring 11 past their defence. He’s currently odds against at 11/10, which looks generous given his proficiency.

Selections

Amad Diallo To Score Anytime (7/2)

Mo Salah To Score Anytime Anytime (11/10)
