Too Close To Call
Manchester United v Spurs looks like a tight game on paper. The Red Devils are just edging favouritism at 6/4, Spurs at 17/10, and the draw is 14/5.
I personally think this game could go either way, so I am staying away from the match markets. Manchester United have had a mixed start to the season and arrive here after a frustrating draw against FC Twente in the Europa League earlier this week.
Spurs Finding Their Stride
Spurs, on the other hand, come here with a bit of confidence as they’ve won the last two games. They beat Brentford 3-1 last weekend and beat Qarabag 3-0 in the Europa League on Thursday night.Â
Johnson Searching For A Hat-Trick
One player who has stepped up for them in those games has been Brennan Johnson. The 23-year-old winger has scored in his last two games for Tottenham, and it looks like he’s beginning to hit form. He did cost Spurs a pretty penny at £47.5m last season, and it’s taken him a while to adapt to Ange Postecoglu’s way of playing.
Despite getting in a lot of good positions, he has failed to take his chances in the past, but if he can continue to convert them, then he could easily bag some useful numbers for Spurs. The Welshman is currently 11/4 to score anytime with Rhino, and I don’t think that represents bad value.
Look Out For Mainoo
Elsewhere, another angle I’m looking to get at in this game is the card markets. The one player who looks overpriced to me is Kobe Mainoo. So far this season, he’s picked up three yellow cards and is currently tied at the top of the standings as having the most bookings in the Premier League. He has also committed more fouls than any other Manchester United player this season, averaging 1.8 fouls a game. Players like Casimero are a shorter price than Mainoo to pick up a yellow card, so the 13/5 for Mainoo looks a touch too big.
