Goals! Goals Goals!
Newcastle United v Manchester City should be an entertaining match. The last two encounters on this ground in the Premier League have resulted in at least five goals or more. I wouldn’t be surprised if he saw something similar this time around. It’s currently 13/5 for there to be over 4.5 goals, but I think it is maybe a little short if you want to play.
City Vulnerable?
Coming into this game, both teams have got questions to answer for different reasons. Manchester City dropped points for the first time this season when they drew 2-2 with title challengers Arsenal last weekend. It’s fair to say that Gunners had them on the ropes in the first half before they went down to 10 men.
Newcastle also struggled last weekend, as they lost their first game of the season 3-1 to Fulham. Though they were undefeated, some of their performances had been questionable, so I wasn’t entirely shocked.
Rodri Miss A Huge Blow
The biggest story regarding team news in this game will be the absence of Manchester City’s midfielder Rodri. The 28-year-old has an ACL injury and is expected to be out for the majority of the season. Therefore, their midfield is going to be a little lighter, and teams will want to exploit that. The stats showed that when Manchester City play without Rodri, they are more vulnerable than usual.
Barnes Banging Them In
For this game, I think the value could be to side with some of Newcastle’s players. When it comes to goal scorer markets, I think Harvey Barnes could represent a little bit of value at 4/1. The 27-year-old has had a stop-start career since he joined Newcastle as a result of injury.
Despite this, he has hit the ground running this season, scoring five goals in three games in the Premier League. Two of which have come in his last two matches. In my opinion, he is a bit of a streaky player, and I can see him getting on the scoresheet against Manchester City this weekend.
Joelinton A Card Magnet
Another angle with Newcastle is to look at the card market. The one player who is a clear standout is Joelinton. He’s already been booked three times this season and has committed thirteen fouls. That is the third most of any player in the Premier League since the new season started. The Brazilian is currently 9/4 to get in the referee’s notebook again on Saturday.
Newcastle v Manchester City Selections
Harvey Barnes To Score Anytime (4/1)
Joelinton To Be Carded Was (7/4) Now (9/4)
