Nottingham Racing Preview: Path To Glory Can Break Her Maiden Tag

Rhino Bet is sponsoring a six-race card at Nottingham on Friday afternoon. The race I am most looking forward to watching is the lucky last, as I think a well-handicapped horse could finally have his day in the sun.
Nottingham Racecourse

2.15 – Charge Up Your Summer With Rhino.Bet EBF Maiden Stakes – Hallsan (Win)

Hallasan has been knocking on the door after going close in some decent maidens. His recent second at Nottingham over 5f sets the standard, and a replication of that run should be enough to break his maiden tag. The son of Pinatubo is stepping up an extra furlong to 6f, but I don’t see that being a problem.

2.50 – Follow Us On X @betrhino Handicap – Lipsink (Win)

Lipsink arrives here in a great vein of form after winning at Nottingham last month. He has subsequently finished second at Newbury since then, but it was still a good effort. On his old form, he’s still very well handicapped, and he won’t mind if there is any ease left in the ground after the heavy rain at the track earlier in the week. I think he has a great chance of going close.

3.25 – Rhino.Bet Proudly Sponsor Josephine Gordon ‘Confined’ Handicap – Dance And Romance (Win)

Cases can be made for a few in here, but Dance And Romance looks interesting on her handicap debut. She won first time out at Southwell in April and then followed it up with a respectable second at Lingfield, where the form has worked out well. This will be her turf debut, but by looking at her pedigree, she should be fine. Off a mark of 72, I see her getting involved in the finish.

4.00 –  Follow Rhino.Bet On Instagram EBF Fillies’ Restricted Novice Stakes – Path To Glory (Win)

This race won’t take much winning, so I think it might pay to go with the lightly-raced Path To Glory for James Tate. She didn’t shape too badly on her racecourse debut at Ripon last month and finished a respectable second. The daughter of Masar is bred to appreciate this step up in trip to 1m2f, and I think she can go one better here.

I think this is the most competitive race on the card. However, the one I am just going to side with is Favorite Boy for Mick Appleby. He arguably ran the best race of his career when he finished fourth at Leicester last time out, where the form has been franked. The four-year-old gelding made the running that day and I could see him going forward here. If they decide to employ the same tactics he could be hard to peg back at a track where sometimes it pays to be handy.

This might be a point-and-shoot job for Secret Handsheikh, as he likes to get on and make his own running. The son of Mayson hinted at a return to form when he finished second at Windsor last month, and he is now very well handicapped, being 8lb below his last winning mark. I think this could be his day to get into the winners’ enclosure.

Bet Of The Day: 5.11 – Secret Handsheikh
