The early season love in for Roberto De Zerbi seems to have dissipated as the campaign has worn on, and whilst, yet again, Brighton have played some great football and comfortably retained their Premier League status, they have not pushed on from last season. Brighton have not won in their last six league matches and with their final 4 matches all coming against teams in the top half of the league it’s likely to be a challenging end to the season.
Villa are so close to booking a Champions League spot that they can taste it. They go in to the weekend with a 7 point lead in the race for 4th, and with their nearest rivals Spurs having a tough run in, they know that a win in this fixture will all but book their passage to the riches of UEFA’s biggest cup competition.
