Racing League 2024 Windsor Preview: Andaleep Can Be On His A-Game

Leg 4 of The Racing League goes to Windsor on Thursday night, which is my favourite racecourse. The card looks good, and I like a few at some tasty prices, so hopefully we can have a good evening.

5.00 Windsor – Balmoral Lady EW

Balmoral Lady has shown she’s got ability on more than one occasion this season. The last time we saw her, she wasn’t disgraced at Glorious Goodwood finishing sixth in a competitive fillies’ handicap. This isn’t a cakewalk, but she looks overpriced, and with the three-year-old allowance. And a fair draw in Stall 7, I can see her making the frame each way.

5.30 Windsor – Great Acclaim (Win)

I don’t have a strong opinion in this race, but I thought Great Acclaim might have a bit more to offer. He was last seen winning at the Racing League meeting at Chepstow last week. He battled well to the line. The three-year-old gelding does have to shoulder a 6lb penalty for that success. But I don’t think that will stop him. A return to this course and distance will also be a bonus, as he’s won at Windsor before.

6.00 Windsor – God Of Fire (Win)

God Of Fire has been an equine cash machine for punters this summer as he arrives here seeking a four-timer. The last time we saw him, he bolted up over this course and distance very easily. He has been hit by an 8lb rise by the handicapper for that performance. But I think he could still have more improvement to offer. The son of Muhaarar doesn’t appear to be a complicated ride, and he’s made the running on his last couple of starts. If Richard Kingscote does decide to go forward, then he could be hard to pass.

6.30 Windsor – Believe In Stars (Win)

Believe In Stars is due a win, and I didn’t think he ran as badly as the result suggested when he finished fifth in the Racing League at Yarmouth last month. He’s always been a pretty consistent horse, and he finished a head second back at this track in June. I just think the key to him could be this extra distance, as he’s been a little bit outpaced over 1m2f and then rallied well at the line. With Sir Michael Stoute’s string operating at 31% strike rate at the time of writing, I can see him adding to the yard’s fine form.

7.00 Windsor – Piz Nair EW

It’s a bit strange to why Piz Nair has never tried the mile trip before, but connections are finally rolling the dice. If you go back to his run at Glorious Goodwood last time out, then you’ll see that he stayed on strongly over 7f to finish a decent second. His pedigree suggests that a mile should probably be his bare minimum, as plenty of his relatives got further. The ground will be fine, and he gets the three-year-old allowance. For me, he’s my strongest fancy of the night.

7.30 Windsor – Intervention EW

I thought Intervention just lacked the speed for the stiff 5f at Haydock last time out after travelling strongly into the race. I think the step up to 6f, on the other hand, will really suit him here. Most of his best form has come over this trip, and he’s now 4lb below his last winning mark. There is plenty of pace on in here, and I can see him being played late for his turn of foot. He’s definitely the lurker in the pack.

8.00 Windsor – Andaleep EW

I put up Andaleep when he came second in the Racing League at Yarmouth last month and he probably should have won if he had a clearer run. Since then he’s gone on to finish second again on the all-weather at Wolverhampton, so he’s in good form. Coming back to Windsor should suit as he’s won here three times before. Surely he’s only a matter of time before he’s rewarded for his consistency.
