Sunderland v Leeds United Betting Preview: The Stadium Of Light Can Be The Black Cats’ Lucky Charm

Friday night’s Championship game sees Sunderland host Leeds United for a top-of-the table clash at the Stadium Of Light.

Top Of The Table Clash

Sunderland v Leeds United will be a fascinating game, with both teams coming into the match in excellent form. At the time of writing, Sunderland are top of the Championship after they beat Derby County 2-0 on Tuesday night. Leeds, on the other hand, are in fourth place and arrive here after drawing with Norwich City 1-1.

Despite Sunderland being top of the league, the market has them as the underdogs at 19/10, and Leeds are the favourites at 13/10. I personally think that is the wrong way around.

Stadium Of Light Is A Hard Place To Go

Sunderland have made the Stadium Of Light a fortress this season, as they’ve won all their home games in the league. Furthermore, the Black Cats got the better of Leeds last season, behind them 1-0 at Elland Road and drawing 0-0 in the home fixture.

Another key cornerstone to why Sunderland are performing well this season is their defence, especially at home. So far they’ve kept three clean sheets in three home games. Though Leeds have a lot of attacking qualities, they aren’t always clinical in front of goal, so don’t be surprised if the Black Cats keep another clean sheet.

Ramazani Raising His Game

However, one player that could break the deadlock is winger Largie Ramazani. The 23-year-old was bought in the summer by Leeds from Almeria, and he’s now forced himself into the team with some impressive displays. Against Norwich, he scored Leeds’ equaliser, and the time before that, he grabbed an assist against Coventry. The Belgian is currently 7/2 to get on the scoresheet on Friday night.

When it comes to my final thoughts in this game, I do think Sunderland are the stronger side, and I can’t see them losing. Therefore, I am going to recommend them on the double chance at 8/13.

Hopefully we get an entertaining game to start the weekend.
