Our MMA ambassador Thomas Paull previews UFC 301, which takes place in Rio De Janiero, Brazil this weekend.
UFC 301 Betting Preview

The card is packed with plenty of fighters, some of whom I am familiar with and some who are new faces on the UFC scene.

Come On Paul!

In the first fight is Paul Craig from Scotland. He will be fighting Caio Borralho in the middleweight division. Even though he is the outsider, I’d pick Paul Craig to win this fight, as I love UK fighters.

Pereira Has The Prep

Next up is Michel Pereira vs. Ihor Potieria. It’s interesting, as Michel Pereira was supposed to fight Makhmud Muradov, who ended up pulling out of the fight, but Potieria stepped in to take this fight at the last minute. He had already been preparing for another fight against Sharaputdin Magomedev, which takes place next month.

It will be a fascinating contest to watch, but I would pick Michel Pereira to win because he’s already prepared for this fight. It can be difficult preparing for another fight with a quick turnaround so that could come into play. It’s going to be a close one, but I would say Michel Pereira will win.

Big And Bald

Next up is Anthony Smith who will fight Virot Petrino. I would pick Anthony Smith to win. He’s a big, bald fighter, and I like his relaxed style, so I am backing him to win by knockout.

Retirement No Problem For Alto

In the co-main event, the favourite to win is Johnathan Martinez. He will be fighting Jose Aldo who is a legend in the UFC. Jose was supposed to be retired but when he heard UFC 301 was taking place in Brazil he decided to come out of retirement. I’m going to pick Jose Aldo to win. Even though he is retired, I’m sure he still keeps up with his training regime, and I believe he will win by decision.

Experience Isn’t Everything

Now to the main event. Fighting for the championship title is Alexandre Pantoja, who takes on Steve Erceg. In the past if a champion fighter is over the age of 35, the fight doesn’t usually go their way, so I am going to side with Steve to take the belt.

Good luck to you all!
